Sunshine is proud of the kind, knowledgeable, and experienced teachers and volunteers who work wiht our children.
We thought you'd be interested in the following information (and while the statistics pertain to 2008 - 2009,
it is fair to say that they are representative of our staffing from one year to the next.)

Sunshine School is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health to care for 65 children at any one time.
Generally, we may have 80 to 100 families in all of our programs. Annually, we employ 22 people.
An additional 8 to 12 parents are trained volunteers who have been fingerprinted (or are in the process) by the
Arizona Department of Public Safety. While the State requires a ratio of 1 staff person to every 13 children, we aim for
a ratio of 1:5 or 1:8.

This current paid staff has 129 years of experience working at Sunshine! On average, a teacher or aide
remains with us for 6 years. Did you know that the typical child care facility loses about 40% of its staff annually?
Between staff and volunteers, 39 of 40 have completed high school; 31 of 40 have university degrees; 7 have Master's degrees.
Cumulatively, the Sunshine teachers +
aides + support personnel + volunteers have 581 years of experience working with children (and that doesn't include
the time we've spent with our own children!)

The State requires that ONE PERSON WITH CPR & FIRST AID TRAINING be onsite during the school day. We
think this number is inadequate. 90% of Sunshine staff are trained in both CPR & First Aid.
