"I LOVE Sunshine School! Upon first glance, I thought the school looked like nothing special, but I
was wrong! As soon as I met with Sue, I knew it was the place for my son. The thing I love most
about Sunshine is the feeling it gives me. Sunshine is a very loving, welcoming place. I feel very
comfortable leaving my son for three hours because I know he'll be safe and that he'll learn and have
fun. On the first day of school, my son was welcomed with open arms and made to feel comfortable.
Sue even hugged me at the gate and told me it would be okay. It is obvious that the staff love my
son and that they love our whole family. I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to attend Sunshine!"
- April D. (mother of one current Sunshiner and one future Sunshiner)
"What impresses me the most, aside from the phenomenal curriculum and caring staff, is the fact that after
25 years in the preschool business, Sunshine School continues to improve their processes. The communication
between parents and staff is outstanding. Weekly newsletters and calendars keep us up to date with the
latest activities and events. Parental involvement is encouraged and our feedback is heard. This is my
son’s first preschool experience and it couldn’t have been more positive. He will be returning in the
fall for a second year and his little sister will be joining him!"
- Lori A. (mother of one current sunshine student)
"I’ve sent all three of my children to Sunshine starting in 1998. The experience each one of them has
had has enriched their lives and got them off to a terrific start in school. In fact, my 13 year old
son still talks about Sunshine fondly and eagerly recommends it to all who ask. My daughter doesn’t
want to leave Sunshine for kindergarten, she considers this school hers. We will be sad to say
goodbye to Sunshine in May."
- Heidi V. (mother of three Sunshine graduates)
"We have been a Sunshine Family for 5 years now! My 3rd grader and Kindergartener are both excelling
in school! I believe that is due in large part to Sunshine School and their curriculum. With the actual
weekly lesson plans, a loving atmosphere and plenty of opportunities for my children to practice being
independent, it was the perfect place to prepare my kids for public school. My 3 year old will begin
attending soon and I can't imagine her getting a better start than Sunshine School!"
- Stephanie M. (mother of two Sunshine graduates)
"Our 2 daughters have attended Sunshine. I could never, ever have imagined sending them anywhere else
to start of their education! We feel that the lessons learned at Sunshine will be with them
for life. The warmth and love exhibited by all teachers at Sunshine is so special. The gentle
kind ways all of the teachers is something you just do not find anywhere else. I always tell people
when they are looking to enroll their little ones in a preschool, 'Go see Sunshine - it sells
itself the very minute you walk through the gates.'"
- Janey R. (mother of two Sunshine students)
"Sunshine School is more than just a preschool for my son, it is an extended part of his family.
The warmth and knowledge that my child receives from Sunshine far exceeds any expectations that
I would have for a preschool. The skills that he learns on a day-to-day basis have already helped
him to become more socially and emotionally advanced in the short time that he has attended.
This school is providing more than just learning how to read and write...it is giving children
a foundation of life skills that they will forever need. I cannot imagine life without my
children attending Sunshine School."
- Kelly F. (mother of boy, 4 years old)
"I feel so fortunate that my 3 children had the privilege of attending Sunshine School. There is no doubt
in my mind that Sunshine School gave my kids the best preparation possible for elementary school.
Sunshine provides a loving environment always focused on what's best for the children. In addition to
the academic experience, which was top notch, the kids are allowed to be kids; to explore the world around
them, and have fun. In addition to the regular time devoted to music, physical education and an incredible
art program, the kids are exposed to a variety of exciting and different activities such as rhythm and massage.
I always tell people that Sunshine School is the best place in the world. I am a better person, a better
mom for having been a part of Sunshine School. And there is no doubt in my mind that my children are partly
who they are because of Sunshine School. Thank you so very much."
- Susan L. (mother of three Sunshine students)
"Our daughter entered Sunshine School with rare, special issues that were just beginning to
arise. The staff and teachers there educated themselves right along with us. Because of the
dedication of the staff, and the loving, supportive environment provided, our daughter’s
condition has improved significantly. Thank you Sunshine School!!"
- Sharon S. (Sunshine mother)
"We are grateful for all that Sunshine School has done to inspire our son to love learning.
The entire staff at Sunshine shows the professionalism, enthusiasm, and patience necessary to work
effectively with children. Due to this outstanding staff, our son has demonstrated significant
growth this year, not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. And, most importantly
for him, he wakes up each morning excited that it’s a school day!"
- Michelle B. (mother of a Sunshine student)
"My son has been at the Sunshine school for the past 2 years and will be starting Kindergarten this fall.
I have felt totally and completely comfortable with the teaching and care he has received from the wonderful
staff at the school. The environment is ALWAYS clean, well-organized and cheerful and the teachers seem
like they truly want to be there with the children. I have had the opportunity to visit many other
daycare/preschool settings and this is not always the case, unfortunately. My son loves being at Sunshine
and I feel he is very prepared to begin Kindergarten because of the great beginning he has experienced at Sunshine."
- Sherri B. (Sunshine mom)
"Sunshine encourages the values that you want in your child; respect, responsibility, ownership, communication,
choices, independence and love for one self and others. Sunshine stimulates creativity in learning and has a
unique, true care in your child's health and well being and you as their Sunshine family that it has to be the
building block for your child's education. I feel truly spoiled, blessed and fortunate all rolled into one as I
think of the way that my children have benfited and grown as a result from what they learned, saw and participated
in while attending Sunshine. We will forever be in debt to the impression and love you have imparted on our family."
- Monica I. (Mother of two Sunshine boys)
Below is a more thorough testimonial from 2008...
"After a year of research, we found the right preschool for our son in San Francisco. When we relocated to Oro
Valley, we faced the dilemma of doing the exact research all over again. BUT, thankfully we only had to visit
3 preschools instead of 15, as we did in the bay area, because only top 3 preschool were recommended northwest
of Tucson in the local newspapers and websites. One of the three was Sunshine School. It was worth being on the
waiting list for 7 months because we had the chance to test out other preschools. Sure enough, Sunshine School
surpassed others.
As you peruse their mission statements, goals, skills taught, curricula and teacher's bio, you can't help but
sense the following: the teachers and staff love to teach/work there; they love children; their commitment is
showered with sincerity. To teach every day with a smile on your face, preparing curriculums, and giving consistent
affection towards each preschooler with intentions are not an easy task. At Sunshine School, both teachers and
staff exhibit these traits and more. Due to this, volunteering was fun learning through the eyes of a child. You
can't help but sense decades of experience encompassing this school. This school is not exclusive to women
teachers. They also have experienced men as teachers and staff at this school.
When our son came home from Sunshine School, he would imitate what he learned form his art class and try to
duplicate a sculpture he made with styrofoam. When he arrived home with a lima bean wrapped in moist paper towel
placed in a sealed plastic bag, we planted it in a soil a week after. We're going to make bean soup when it's
time for harvest. When he made his own book based on Eric Carle's books, he wrote 5 more books (with help of
course). When he learned to sing "teasing Mr. Alligator can' touch me" from his music teacher, my husband and I
learned to sing it by heart. At the end of the year, his art teacher, Ms Barbara, wrote a letter to each of her
students pointing out the "high-lights" of what each child did that was memorable. I thought the letter was
amazing because she was so specific.
Moreover, Sunshine School encourages parents to take courses or attend lectures for free to learn more about
our children. For example, I was fascinated with "The Great Enigma - Why do Gifted Students Fail?" lecture
by C. DeBoucher.
Second, "The Importance of Pencil Grip" by Dr. David Friedel answered my question as to why my son had difficult
time writing the letter "x" when he was 2 ½ yrs old. My favorite was "Love and Logic" lectured by Steve
Barcanic. Though it will take decades of practice at home, we learned valuable tools to communicate to our son
so that we may become parents who "consult". To top this off, I was invited to lecture in Phoenix, Arizona for
Music Teachers National Association in which Sunshine School was given credit to support my presentation
"Your Student's First Piano Competition". Attending Sunshine School will benefit your children, you as parents
and the community."
