MARLA
I’m Marla. I started at Sunshine as a parent, then, as a volunteer, teaching a kindness program. I, then became a classroom teacher for many years. In July 2017, I was asked to be Director when the original founder and director retired. My vision is to continue the essence of what Sunshine School has always excelled at: educating and loving children.

Hi! I’m Kristen, Assistant Director, and Marla's Admin. Assistant. My main role is director of Parent Support. My 3 daughters are Sunshine Alumni. I began working at Sunshine School in 2003, and, I love being part of this community and the Sunshine family!

Billie
My name is Billie, and I am an Assistant Director. I lead the afternoon program and I also teach Science twice a month at morning centers. I enjoy exposing children to STEM activities. I began at Sunshine in August of 2002. I’m happy to be here at Sunshine and I look forward to working with your children.

Lori
Pre-K Teacher
Hi, I'm Lori. I was educated in T.U.S.D. and earned three degrees from the University of Arizona. I spent most of my work life in education at the U of A. My focus has always been on improving access to and success in education for all children. I am a trained school counselor with experience in K-12. Three of my grandchildren have attended and thrived at Sunshine School. I am thrilled to be working with your children.
Kristyn D
Pre-K Teacher
My name is Kristyn Dayton, and I am thrilled to serve as a teacher at Sunshine School. I originally hail from southern Louisiana and graduated with my Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University in 2011. I moved to Arizona a month later and have been proud to call Tucson home ever since. I have four kids of my own: Braidan, Colton, Sawyer, and Billie… who have all attended Sunshine School! My goal for your child’s preschool experience is that they grow to enjoy school and love learning.

I’m Ana! I have loved the Sunshine community since both my daughters attended the school, and now I am truly blessed to be teaching here. I believe in the importance of being kind and generous to others, and I am honored to share that message with your children, and give them an amazing first experience with school.

Centers Lead
My name is Julie S. I am a centers teacher at Sunshine School. I spent a lot of time volunteering at Sunshine School while my children attended and fell in love with the enriching program and loving staff. I am so happy to be a part of the Sunshine staff and to be able to work with your beautiful children.

Instructional Aide
Hi. I am Cindy. I teach at Centers as well as in the afternoons as an instructional aide. I started at Sunshine in May of 2000. My husband and I have two children: one completing her RN degree, and our son is an officer with the Oro Valley Police Department. I can’t think of a better place than Sunshine School!

Hi. I am Dan. I teach at Centers as well as in the afternoon as an instructional aide. I started at Sunshine in August of 1999. My nephew attended Sunshine in 1998, and I was invited to be a guest reader in his class. That same day, the previous Director, Sue, asked me to become a part of this unique learning environment, and, of course, I accepted.
Celestina
Art Teacher
My name is Celestina Ballmann, and I am honored to serve as the art teacher at Sunshine School. My journey in the Sunshine community began in 2016 when our oldest daughter first attended this wonderful institution. My husband Andrew and I are proud parents of four children, all of whom have attended or will attend Sunshine School. Throughout my career, I've always had a passion for working with children and have had the privilege of teaching in various educational settings. However, my heart truly belongs to preschool education. I graduated from the University of Arizona after relocating from Phoenix, and I am absolutely thrilled to be here in Tucson and a part of the Sunshine School family. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to get to know all the incredible students at Sunshine and embark on countless creative projects together.
